What is Internet Speed Monitor?

Internet Speed Monitor has a deceiving name. You would think it does what it says, and there are some legitimate tools out there with this name that do monitor internet speed. However, there is also a very intrusive adware program with this name which does anything but monitor your internet speed. The results of this adware program are a constant assault of pop-ups in your internet browser when you try to browse the internet. Internet Speed Monitor is more than a nuisance. It can cause serious problems to your computer including registry issues that only registry cleaners can fix. In addition, it will cause slower internet connectivity, contrary to its name.

Uninstall Internet Speed Monitor

As I've already mentioned, if you try to uninstall Internet Speed Monitor from your computer by using the Add/Remove functionality in your computer's Control Panel, it may seem to make a difference initially but as soon as you restart your computer, the annoying pop-up ads will return. This is because Internet Speed Monitor has the unique ability of being able to recover lost files and re-install itself if it isn't completely removed. You may think that uninstalling a program completely removes it from your computer but there are always some singular files floating around or entries in your registry that do not get deleted. Internet Speed Monitor is like a worm that if cut in half can regenerate itself. The only way to uninstall internet Speed Monitor is to completely remove every file associated it with it from your computer.

Internet Speed Monitor popup

Internet Speed Monitor is an adware that attaches itself as a toolbar program in your internet browser. What it then does is track your internet browsing history so that it knows what type of things you are looking for and therefore what types of items you may buy. Next, it starts loading an excessive amount of popup advertisements into your browser when you are trying to surf the internet. One Internet Speed Monitor popup might not be so bad but they are so abundant and invasive that you will have great difficulty surfing the Net or accomplishing any task as it will take a lot of system resources and will also affect your internet speed.

Manually Removing Internet Speed Monitor

If you plan to manually remove Internet Speed Monitor from your computer, please make sure that you are confident tinkering with your computer's registry and can fix computer errors. If you are, this is a good way to ensure all files are deleted. If you aren't espcially advanced on the computer, please do not attempt this as deleting the wrong entries can cause significant harm to your computer.

If you choose to remove the adware manually, make sure to start up your computer in Safemode and to back up any entries that you delete in case of mistakes. Another recommendation is to back up the whole registry before starting. This is done by creating a System Restore point on your computer.

Internet Speed Monitor Removal

Once you realize you have the Internet Speed Monitor virus, you will want to know how to remove it from your computer. You may have already tried removing it through Control Panel > Add/Remove programs but just found that it reappeared when you re-booted your computer. Internet Speed Monitor removal can be achieved in 2 ways.

One method is to remove it manually by deleting all the offending entries from your computer’s registry. This is a risky proposition if you aren’t too computer savvy as any mistake can cause serious harm to your computer. Make sure you have some computer training if you chose this method. The better method is to use Spyware detection and removal software.
